Colourful Living: The Holiday Edit
Bright, bold and blooming colours are what we are loving this Summer and as the weather perks up (finally), we've been putting our colourful wares to good use here at DS. From wild swimming to garden dining, it finally feels like we are having the radiant summer we deserve.
Read on for our Holiday Edit, with tips on wild swimming spots, outdoor dining essentials and our summer reading guide...
Get Holiday Ready
It's not a secret that we are big fans of a brightly coloured towel, whether that's to add a pop of colour in the bathroom, or to take on holidays and adventures near or far...
We took advantage of the sunny weather and went on a jaunt to the local Lido, did a spot of wild swimming and even made our very own 'beach', to really show off those brightly coloured fabrics. If you're a fan of a Turkish 'kilim' style towel, a tactile waffle, traditional terry toweling or a soft muslin cotton, we have a huuuge selection! Below are three of our faves as a colour combo.
The Bright Outdoors
Our collaboration with Faro who hand block print our gorgeous striped fabric tea towels has expanded into the full dining experience.
If you, like us, love a stripe then this is your dream dining collection. The bold colours make for a perfect backdrop for summer salads, juicy heritage tomatoes and fresh seasonal fruits. Cook up a feast, lay the table and sit out all night chatting...or host a barbecue for family and friends and deck out a stripey table for all of your side dishes!
Sunshine & Stories
Discover a couple of our must-have reads for the summer season, perfect for those leisurely afternoons under the sun. If you're looking for a new book, we can highly recommend these two, having devoured them recently. If you're visiting our Nailsworth or Tetbury stores, our local friends and neighbours The Yellow Lighted Bookshop should have them in store!
Still Life by Sarah Winman
Transport yourself to the Tuscan sun. Set mainly in the beautiful city of Florence, this captivating story follows a young soldier called Ulysses who meets 64-year-old Evelyn in Italy in the final months of WWI.
Fancy a dip?
For those who are local, or planning a visit to the area, we'd reccommend visiting the Cirencester Lido, Stratford Park Lido and you can even find a few good spots in local streams across the Stroud area. Chalford & Nailsworth cycle track have a couple of good paddling spots!
