Designed and created exclusively for Domestic Science, this limited edition cushion has been hand crafted from a unique mix of original mid-century checked fabric and Alsace bed linen.

We are delighted to introduce to you all our first own-brand product range - a collection of locally handcrafted, vintage fabric cushions designed by founder of Domestic Science, Libs Lewis. A true magpie at heart, Libs has always found vintage fabric particularly irresistible and over the years she has built an extensive collection of vintage cloth. 

Our first cushion 'drop' combines slubby Hungarian linen sacks with mid-century checked woven fabric made on narrow home looms in rural China, as well as linen bed sheets from Alsace that date back to the 19th century. The colour palette has been carefully considered to tie together this diverse archive of fabrics making them suitable to mix and match in your home. The provenance of these fabrics together with the look and feel of the cushions really represents the core Domestic Science aesthetic - 'pared back, muted colourways that feel relaxed, informal and are ready to be lived with.

Due to the individual nature of vintage fabric, we like to embrace the perfect imperfections that make each cushion a truly 'one off piece'. This cushion comes complete with a luxurious feather pad and zip closure and has been finished with a DS embroidered name tag.

We aim to pick, pack and despatch your orders within 1-3 working days (Monday – Friday.) All standard orders are sent on 48 hour tracked services.  

Please note: We do not despatch orders on weekends and bank holidays so please take this into consideration when ordering.

Orders up to 2kg are sent with our Royal Mail 48 hour tracked courier service 

Over 2kg orders are sent with Parcel Force 48 hour tracked courier service 

Please note: If you are ordering ONLY a card, we will refund you £2 for the shipping after purchase. So it is £1.95 for posting a card to you or your recipient. 

First class postage 

We do not offer first class postage on all products due to holding our products in multiple locations. However, if you need your order in a hurry, email us and we may be able to upgrade you to a 24-hour tracked service, for an additional cost. 

International Delivery (includes Channel Islands)

RETURNS POLICY

Returning unwanted products 

If you are not completely satisfied, the products can be returned to us in their original packaging for a full refund, within 30 days of receipt. Either post your goods to us, or return the items to one of our stores.  

The cost of returning your unwanted goods safely is the responsibility of the buyer, we therefore suggest you return the items using a recorded delivery service.  

Please ensure that the goods are returned in perfect saleable condition, in their original packaging, with the invoice as proof of purchase. 

We would be grateful for you could write on the invoice the reason why you are returning the goods, so that we can improve our web services for future customers.

We will issue a full refund to the card used when placing the order, excluding any delivery charges. Please allow up to 3-5 days for a full refund from the date we receive the goods.  

The following product examples are non-returnable: 

  • Face coverings 
  • Food and drink 
  • Underwear 
  • Earrings 
  • Beauty items and cosmetics that have been opened, tested or partially used. 
  • E-vouchers and gift vouchers 

This does not affect your statutory rights. 

Returning the items to our stores 

If you are returning the goods to the stores, the staff cannot issue you a refund then and there. Once the parcel has been taken by our team, from the shop, to our warehouse, our postal team will refund you. You will receive an email to confirm you have been refunded. If you are in need of an exchange, please contact us before you visit the store. 

Faulty or Damaged Items 

We take every care to make sure your items arrive in perfect condition, if for any reason your order is faulty or damaged, we will cover the cost of the return. Please email us with photos of the damaged goods within 3 days of receiving your items, along with your order reference number, and we will organise either a refund or a replacement to be sent out to you.
