This wonderfully heavy sack were originally made for farmers to carry their grain to market in. The hemp and linen mix has a fantastic rustic feel and weight to it, and is of a quality probably unmatched by modern day linen.
The textile was woven in Hungary on narrow gauge home looms, in long lengths and stored on rolls. Each grain sack had a unique striped pattern, which was individual to each farmer so they were easy to identify.
Grain sacks have hand sewn seams, with selvedge edges down each side and attractive overstitching detail.
Great for making into large bolster cushions for chairs and benches or home soft furnishings.
